For the Love of it!

There are some things you do in life because you are obligated, it seemed like a good idea at a certain stage in life and/or it was just because life happened and it was required.  Then there are other things that you do because you love it.  It may be an activity that is relaxing, healing and rejuvenating to your mind, body and spirit.  At age 59 ½, that’s what I want to be doing a lot of the time in my life moving forward.  That things that hits my mind, body and spirit and I love it!  That’s the place that writing has taken over in my life.  Writing is relaxing, healing and rejuvenating to my mind and spirit.  I enjoy it to say the least.  Good thing because I write a lot.  This is February!  I realize that we celebrate Black History this month and Valentine’s Day but I want you to celebrate you and do something that you love.

I am so proud to announce that on February 4, BK Royston Publishing is officially 15 years old.  I have had some wonderful experiences, met some incredible people, published some phenomenal books, cried, been frustrated but with the help of an amazing God, husband, family, friends, team and coaches made it in business for 15 years.  I am only saddened that my dad is not alive to see it but it patterned, modeled and trained me for entrepreneurship whether he knew it or not.  I celebrate every client, customer who has purchased a book and every call and/or inquiry whether you signed the contract or not.  I thank you.

We will celebrating in some way or not all year long.  Look for more information and opportunities to celebrate with us in the upcoming months.  I will spend February 4th like I have for the past 4 ½ years and attend the ‘I’ll Make Me a World’ event in Des Moines, IA.  What’s in Des Moines?  We’ll find out on Saturday.

Blessings to you all and if you’re ready to write, publish and promote with BK Royston Publishing, schedule a conversation at www.talkwithroyston.com.  Let’s go for 15 more years of Books and Business.

New Next or Next Repeat…

We’ve seen all of the emails, social media posts and texts wishing us all of Happy New Year!  It’s a new year but will it be happy?  I don’t know.  Will it be new?  That’s left up to you.  But I can guarantee you this that if you are alive and breathing, there will be a next.  A next minute, hour, day, month, quarter and year if we are still alive and the earth still stands.  So what’s next?  Will the next be a repeat of what’s already been done or will there be some things that are new?  Your next will look different from mine but here are a few questions that we both can ask ourselves about next:

  1. What did you start that you haven’t finished?  That should be next.
  2. What have you prepared for?  That could be next.
  3. What have you signed up for and invested in?  That is definitely next.
  4. What do you NOT want any more of?  That’s should be never again and not included in the next.

These 4 questions only you can answer and make that critical decision about.  In my own life, I have been reviewing every aspect of my life, family, friends, business and health.  Some of it was fun to review and other things were a little painful to be quite honest but I did it.  I’m ready to move forward, I think.  Scary as a new beginning or a beginning again can be, it is going to happen whether I’m ready or not.  Some things are inevitable.  Some things are happening because it is life.  Some things are uncontrollable like the weather, death and other people.  It just happens.  So what will it be, New Next or the Next is on Repeat.  No matter what, let’s go!

Decisions. Delights. Destinations.

Greetings,

The holidays are in full swing and that’s wonderful!  Enjoy it all!  At the end of the holidays, life is still happening.  Decisions have to be made with moving your life forward.  Even if you don’t need to decide on any area of your life, you have still decided to do nothing, modify nothing or make any changes in your life.  But know that your decisions will determine your actions and actions will determine the results.  It’s Decision December.  What will you decide?  It’s left up to you.

The delights of the season for me are giving and receiving.  Giving myself time to reflect and receiving instruction from GOD about my next.  I know that you thought it was gifts, decorations and shopping but in this season of my life, it is about living out my purpose and getting to destiny.  I promised myself that I would go “Hard in the Paint” and I have truly done that.  I have about 6 more months to complete that goal and determine my next steps.  Until then, I encourage you to give yourself that time to reflect on your life.  I know it may be hard to take a look at the good, bad and ugly but you can’t change what you won’t face.

After the delights of the season, what is the destination?  Where will you go next?  Some of us will discover as we journey in life but others will be very strategic about where we go, who we are with and what we do with our time and treasure.  Whether you’re looking at a map or still searching your heart, what or where is the destination?  I’m in that season of questioning everything and hope that you are too.

If we need to have a conversation, visit www.talkwithroyston.com to schedule a conversation.  Enjoy the holidays along with the decisions, delights and destinations.  Let’s go!

Hello November

When I think of November, I think of being thankful.  I think of Thanksgiving and soon to be Christmas.  As an entrepreneur, I am still thankful while looking forward to Thanksgiving, adore Christmas but see the end of one year quickly becoming the beginning of a new year.

Most people probably don’t think about the New Year until after Christmas Day activities are over and you’ve returned gifts that didn’t fit.  For me, I’ve been praying, thinking and planning for 2023 since about June or July.  Why?  I’m thankful but want to be as prepared as possible.  I’m thankful but my business is my baby and I don’t want to mishandle it in any way.  I know that others wing it, fly by the seat of their pants and since 2020, some best plans don’t always turn out like you planned, but I make a plan anyway.  I review the things that I still want to get accomplished or researched before the end of the year.  I also take some time to really reflect on what went well and what didn’t go like I planned.  This November, I am so thankful for what I accomplished, harvested and what I still have in my heart to do in the near future.  What about you?

Let’s go!

October 2022 Newsletter

It’s the 4th Quarter!  The last quarter of 2022.  Many things have happened already this year and there will be more to come before it is concluded.  Some fantastic things have happened and we accomplished much but here are four things that you should strive to incorporate in your life in the 4th Quarter:

  1.  Consider doing life differently.  We lost loved ones, friends, opportunities and time but now consider doing things differently.  It will be different for each of us but hopefully, it will help you live the life that you were designed to live.
  2. Conclude some things.  You’ve got time to stop, end or bring to a proper conclusion some habits, thoughts and people from continuing in your life.  What goes into 2023?  The same thing looking for different results?  That is insanity.  Bring some things to a conclusion.  In other words, stop it.
  3. Complain about nothing if you didn’t do the research, send the email, make the call, ask questions or at least try to move forward with a project or endeavor.  That is all but know that you’ve still got time.
  4. Celebrate the smallest to the largest victories this year.  Don’t wait until December 31st. Strive to celebrate each and every day something good that did happened, something bad that God didn’t let happen and celebrate the more and get excited about what is ABOUT to happen!  Let’s go!
