December to Remember:  The Litmus Test

I have to be honest that I had to look up the definition of litmus test.  Yes, I’ve heard of the phrase or term but didn’t really know what it meant.  I realize why because I was never a lover of science so if it is science related, it’s going to get by me.  But in my terms, it is a testing, proving and authenticating process.  I apply it to my life in this way.  I am older, limited in my time, budget and energy so whatever I do now has to pass the litmus test to get my attention, energy, money and time.  Does this event, person, organization, brand, project, book, task or investment become an asset or a liability to my life, business or purpose?  That’s it.  So in this last month of the year, what should you be doing?  Who should you be spending time with?  What should you be reading, watching, listening to, doing research about or planning to do in the future?  It’s got to pass the test.  My yes game is pretty strong but my “no or not right now or never” is getting really strong.  Lol.  I don’t have time, money or energy to waste.  How many times have I said that in this paragraph?  Too many so I must be serious about it.  Lol.  What are you really serious about or what is a deal breaker or an absolute no for you, your life and family?  Make this December a month to Remember for you.  Don’t compare your December to anyone else’s anything.  Do you.  Live your best life and make sure it passes the Litmus Test of your Standards.  Let’s go!

Not Too Late November

November is the middle month of the 4th Quarter.  The holiday season is really already in full swing.  Big Corporations with products to sell have already begun Black Friday Sales and Black Friday is still a few days away but they understand that they can’t wait until Black Friday to start promoting, selling and profiting from what they have to sell.  Some other businesses have already slowed down from starting new projects or making major investments because they are already preparing for the next year.  In my mind and for me, I take a never too late to start, move forward or complete an idea, project or to do some homework and research for this time of year.  It’s not too late.  You’ve still got time to work on it, complete it, even call or email about that goal you had in January or in July while laying by the pool or on the beach.  It’s not over until it’s over.  The year is not over yet.  Unless you’re reading this on December 31, 2023 at 12:01 a.m., you’ve still got time.  Write this down somewhere and/or just repeat it over and over in your mind and out of your mouth, “It’s Not Too Late November and I Can Still Get It Done in December.”

Let’s go!

It’s Sweater Weather!

I love that TikTok where the mothers are opening the screen door and realize that the weather has changed, the season has changed and it’s time to add a sweater to their wardrobe. Has the season changed in your life? The season has changed in the world. Everything seems different somehow. But the important question is how will you respond? Will you just sit passive by and keep doing, wearing, going and being the same or will you make some changes? It’s the fourth quarter of the year. You still have a little more than 90 days to get some things done that you thought about in January. It’s not too late. You’re still here. You’re still creative, breathing and living. What needs to be added or subtracted to bring those visions to fruition or at least to get started? That’s for you to decide. For me, I love this time of year because I do get to put on some clothing that is warmer but comforting as well. The cold weather allows me to get that hot cup of tea, reflect, pray, meditate and focus on what’s really important and what will get done now or some other time in the future. It’s not procrastination just prioritizing. There is clearly a difference. As I get older, it’s so very important to productivity and not just activity to be busy but impactful and purposeful. You ready to have an Outstanding October? I am too. Let’s go!

If you’re ready to get that book started, written and published, let’s have a conversation at www.talkwithroyston.com.

It’s Harvest Time!

The Key to Harvest is a decision to plant.  Did you put any seed in the ground?  Did you decide that you were willing to put in the work, invest the time more than money and then invest in your future enough to even be looking for a harvest?  There are some people out there who truly want something for nothing.  There are other people out there that know that if you are going to get anything out of this life, it is how much you are willing to sacrifice, learn, relearn, sacrifice some more, stay up late, get up early, sit down and listen to an expert and then go back to doing more work to live the life and receive a harvest based on the seeds that you have sown.  I’m sorry but Jesus paid it all for my salvation and eternal life but it is going to cost me something to live the abundant life that He died for me to have.

So my first three questions to you are:

  1.  What did you decide to harvest, invest in, write a book about or sow into you future?
  2. Did you prepare the ground, your life, your friends and family for the new seed, venture or project that you were about to embark on?
  3. Finally for this newsletter, did you sow or even start?

There is more to come but know that these first three questions will let you know if you will have a harvest and next time, let’s talk about what you planted vs. what you harvested.

If you need help, let’s have a conversation.  Visit www.talkwithroyston.com and schedule your conversation today so that you will get that seed in the ground to reap a harvest that it’s going to take a TEAM to bring in.  Let’s go!

Welcome August!  Back to School!

Welcome August!  Back to School!  Most school districts are realizing that they must start earlier so that they don’t lose so much of the information and knowledge that the students acquired last year.  As a retired educator, I totally get it.  It’s a new month and a new season.  Summer is almost over and we’re running into Fall.  Do you have anything new to start in this season?  Are you still tied to the old systems or activities that are rendering the same results or nothing at all?  What do you have to complete?  What do you have to start that you didn’t do back in January?  Don’t lose momentum.  Don’t lose the fire, passion and drive that you had back then by letting doubt and fear creep in and steal the goals and dreams that kept you up at night or got you jumping out of bed in the morning.  Life is still short.  People are still dying every day without fulfilling their purpose.  I am still encouraging you until my dying day to Live Your Best Life.  If not now, when?  If not you, who?  If not the final product or finish the project, write a chapter of the book, make a phone call, visit the website for more information or finally send that email.  It’s a new month.  It’s a new season.  Try something new if nothing else but to say you did it, didn’t like or maybe, LOVED IT!  Let’s go!
